The main function of EMCO Network Inventory is to scan a LAN and collect a wide variety of machine-specific data. This process creates a new set of data - all of the old data will be replaced for this database (refer to Saving LAN data for more information about saving and modifying databases). The following scanning options are available:
Enumerate LAN - Scans the LAN.
Refresh Selected - Re-scans the selected provider/domain of the LAN.
Enumerate LAN via IP Name - Opens a filter window that allows you to choose the required network provider and domain, an range of IP addresses for new machines, and a list of specific IP addresses to ignore.
Enumerate LAN via Domain Name - Opens a filter window that allows you to choose the required network provider and domain to scan.
To scan a LAN:
To scan the entire LAN, click on the
button or press F5.
To re-scan a provider/domain of the LAN, click on the required node in the LAN tree and click on the Enumerate LAN > Refresh Selected menu option.
To scan a part of the LAN based on provider and domain name, click on the Enumerate LAN > Enumerate LAN via Domain Name menu option, click on the required values in the Provider and Domain/Workgroup drop-down list, and click on the
button.
To scan a part of the LAN based on a range of IP addresses, click on the Enumerate LAN > Enumerate LAN via IP Name menu option, and click on the required values in the Provider and Domain/Workgroup drop-down list.
Enter the range of IP addresses in the From and To fields.

Add one or more specific IP addresses to ignore using the IPs to Ignore field and the
button, if required.
Click on the
button.
